Biography

Cody Shiloh Brown was born in Springfield, MO on April 22nd 1985. Hailing from a mainly Finnish and Cherokee lineage (with lesser amounts of German, French, Welsh, and Dutch heritage), Cody was raised in the country outside the city limits of Nixa, MO until the age of eighteen. He had a rural upbringing, spending much of his childhood growing up in the Ozarks’ wilderness and on his family’s farms, and gaining more diverse perspectives vacationing throughout North America with his family.

Cody attended Nixa public schools and graduated with honors from Nixa High School in 2003. His educational experiences eventually solidified a curiosity and affinity in him for artistic pursuits and expression. However rewarding he found the spatial arts though, he would develop a greater connection with the temporal arts, specifically, the impermanence of those art forms and their unique ability to blur the line between creator and creation.

He later solidified this enthusiasm through performance art by competing in speech and debate tournaments starting in Junior High and becoming extremely interested and involved in theatre starting his freshman year of High School. Cody experienced great absorption and growth in this academic environment, performing constantly on the stage and in class, learning a myriad of technical attributes, helping his school win several regional and state competitions in theatre, as well as garnering personal acclaim in speech and debate tournaments.

Afterwards, he immediately attended the University of Central Missouri, on an academic scholarship, to pursue a BFA in performance theatre and a minor in philosophy. He performed in numerous UCM main-stage productions, black-box productions, and also collaborated often behind the scenes in technical positions. Cody achieved his chosen major and minor and graduated cum laude in 2007.

After graduation, he moved back to his hometown and began saving to move to LA. He had discovered a new passion through film acting as he thought it allowed for much subtler and “truer to life” performances. After his return, Cody continued intensively taking a professional acting class called The Creative Actors Workshop, which he began attending his senior year of High School. Additionally, he involved himself in numerous film projects around the Springfield, and greater MO area including the recently multi-award-winning and multi-Oscar nominated Winter’s Bone.

Update: Cody has moved out to Los Angeles! He is currently SAG eligible and with his new manager Robert Thompson of Group III Management.
